The summer is over and it’s time to get into the routine of school. We all want our kids to look their best and part of that is to make sure they have well fitting and appropriate shoes. Wearing good shoes will allow for better walking and comfort allowing students to be more focused during the school day. Below are some tips for buying shoes:
- Shoes should feel good immediately and should not need to be “broken in”
- Shop for shoes in the afternoon as your feet may be a little more swollen and this should be accounted for when sizing shoes
- There should be about a fingers width between the end of the shoe and big toe
- Children with flat feet should have shoes with a wide toe box and maximum support. They should also be considered for orthotics
- Children’s feet can grow up to two sizes in 6 months so whenever shoes are bought your child’s feet should be properly measured
